Harper Connelly Mysteries, Volume 1: Whispers From Beyond the Grave by Charlaine Harris

4th cover:
"Since I survived the lightning, I am able to feel and relive the last moments of the dead. Contrary to appearances, this may be helpful: I was contacted to trace missing persons, and finally died, I should say.

So, I've done my job. It's safe, everybody does not like the way I earn my living, but since I have to live with this "gift", both use it.

Tolliver, my half-brother with me. A partner I can not live without. Today we are going to Sarne in hopes of finding a teenager. Find the body? Easy! But leaving the city, is another matter! "

First, a large thank you to Livraddict and editions I read for this partnership. After

community in the south (in progress), Charlaine Harris returns with her new series: The Harper Connelly mysteries. Is eagerly waiting the release of the first volume.

As Sookie, the heroine of the community in the south, Harper has a kind of gift: she can find the dead and identify the cause of death. She has this feature since it was hit by lightning. Rather than complain it has decided to use it for a living.
Thus it is called in the small town of Sarne To find the body of the young teenie. Accompanied by her brother Tolliver, it will find itself embroiled in a family ...

is with pleasure that I found the style of Charlaine Harris. The story is entertaining, captivating. Even when the author recounts the lives of characters, you never get bored. The writing is fluid, the short chapters so that the book reads very quickly. In addition, locations and characters are described only briefly in order to focus on action, which is really nice.

The characters are very endearing. Since she was struck by lightning, Harper is fragile , Easily impressionable and often panicked. His gift leads to distrust, fear and rejection from his peers. His half-brother, Tolliver is there to support it. Inseparable, they have experienced a difficult childhood because of their alcoholic parents and drug addicts. Their relationship is symbiotic: Tolliver is very protective towards Harper and it feels lost without his half-brother. Together they go from town to town in search of remains of missing persons to earn a living.

Although the series is based on the donation of Harper, the plot is fantastic that more police. Heroin found the bodies being asked, but finds herself trapped in occupation as the city with the search for a murderer. The twists are many and the suspense is omnipresent. We try to understand the different family relationships of the protagonists. I'm a little mixed kinship but through the list of events that Harper did in the end, I have pieced together the family trees and identify the murderer ...
I'd love a little more fantastic, I was expecting the possibility of Harper is more exploited. But since this is the first volume, the author establishes the characters, plot and I hope the donation will be developed later. In conclusion

I spent a pleasant moment with Harper. I was delighted to find the fluidity of style by Charlaine Harris. The story is interesting: a police investigation sprinkled supernatural. I am already following the series! Again thank you to
